Table 1: Drivetrain and Steering Total Budget
Summary
Table 1 shows the total budget for the RC Baja drivetrain and steering systems. Purchased parts consists of the steering servo, the transmission and differential gears, and the front tie rods. Stock material consists of stock aluminum and steel. Shipping covers all shipping costs associated with purchased parts. Engineering labor will be all labor contributed to the project which use a vast majority of the total budget.
Schedule
Fall Schedule
For fall 2021, the three areas of the Gantt chart covered consists of proposal/report writing, analyses, and documentation. The proposal will be finished by the end of fall quarter but is a living document and will be updated throughout the year. Some of the analyses that will be done for fall quarter include torque produced by the motor, minimum diameter of the drive shaft, rear axle, and front steering arms, deflection of these shafts, and and stress analysis of these shafts. Some of the documentation done this quarter will include all of the shafts calculated for in the analyses, all of the gears for the drive train, and the steering servo. These three sections will determine the schedule for winter quarter.

Winter Schedule
The winter 2022 schedule covered sections 4 and 5 of the Gantt chart. These are the part construction and device construction sections. The device and parts that will be made and assembled will be determined from fall quarter and sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Gantt chart. Some of these parts and devices include the driveshaft, rear axle, drivetrain system, and steering system. The report guide will also be worked on through this quarter.

The spring 2022 schedule covered sections 6 and 7 of the Gantt chart. This is the device evaluation and 489 deliverables sections. The device will be made during winter quarter comprising of the parts and devices listed in sections 4 and 5 of the Gantt chart. Some of the tests done to the device include a drop test from 1.5 feet, a top speed test, a cornering test, and a collision test. These tests will be done to test the integrity of the device. The deliverable for this project will be the completed RC Baja car, final report, SOURCE poster, completed website, top speed data, and cornering data.
